But custom Status should be per Board not for all boards.

Yeah, it should probably be per board instead of for all boards. However, we need to think deeply about what to put per board and what to put company-wide, for example, tags, permissions, password protection, and so on. Most customers only use one board, so I decided to keep it simple and just ship it globally to get the benefits of custom statuses as quickly as possible.
So doing this will be part of a larger "board" rethink.

I would like the status fields (planned, in progress & completed) to be customizable. I want to be able to edit the names and add more.
